This month is the first to see new voting rules. At last months meeting it was decided to allow up to three pictures to be uploaded but only one vote per picture. It was also decided that members would not be able to vote on their own picture.
So with that out of the way... get voting.
The winner gets a bottle of wine or something else ::15:

Ok guys... The above is a bit confusing I've been told.
Sorry I wrote the new rule up after doing a series of heavy work related days.
Basically it was decided that only one vote can be cast per member. It was also decided that a member can no longer vote of his/her own picture.
Next meeting we have a chance to discuss this new rule and see if it needs changing.
Hope that clears up the confusion?

Well as I said it can be reviewed at the next meeting. If anyone can't attend the next meeting then please air your view here and they will be taken in to account. ::15:

I think it's a good new rule. And to be honest, I've always thought being able to vote for your own picture a bit odd. If you upload a pic to the competition, you yourself obviously thinks it's good - but isn't the point of the competition to see if anyone else thinks it's good too? Be interesting to see how this month's results turn out.

Re Photo Competition Voting

I note that to this point I seem to be over-ruled by popular opinion so fair enough!

I always felt that greater distribution of votes led to more people getting their photos being shown appreciation. I feel that generally there are at least three photos that can't be bettered each month and, almost certainly, they're by the same talented, (good-enough-to-be-professional) photographers/artists winning each month::16:, leaving a number of other lesser mortals receiving little or no appreciation even though they have made the effort to enter.

I must admit that it will definitely be the best photo that wins however, so that's good, ::15:and it is definitely less likely that there can be cliquishness in the vote. I have to say though that I would definitely have liked to have chosen three this month (not including my own!) and only having one vote took me by surprise.duh

First of all there hasn't been any kind of side step here guys. Simply a change of rule that seemed at the time by popular demand.
Now then (OMG sorry about that Savile moment).
I personally think that a one vote per member is a good idea. We entrust the same system when we vote a new government to run our country. If it is hard to choose between pictures then that is a good thing. That makes you look harder at the picture and take a lot more time over the decision making. That also means that the pictures are getting better and better and that was the whole point of the contest.
Perhaps we should run a poll to see if the latest rule is as popular as we think?
What do you say? ::15:

I welcome the one vote and not for yourself, however, someone else had said they were torn between 3, so was I. I would have liked at least another vote for someone else. I rarely if ever used my second vote for myself, I thought it better to win because other people like your picture, than because you could boost your result. x Carole x Great work on the site though, keep it up x

I feel that one vote for any photo other than you're own is the best and democratic way of doing it.
If we do a poll, shall we have a poll to make sure that poll was done right? lol
One vote for one photo, can't get much simpler than that, then the best one voted wins....as Chris said.....simples!!!tsk ::15:

I agree with the rule change. It is a photo competition not a popularity contest! Appreciation can be gained from people's comments under the photos. It is great so many people are entering, and if it is difficult to decide then that is a good thing! Not many competitions allow you more than one vote per category and I do think that being able to vote for yourself is a strange idea.
