Island Traffic - 34

Southern Queen (built 1926), a Little ship of Dunkirk c1985
With Lily of Laguna and the original Sapphire.
Thank you - Nemo is not on the adls site list, they would be intersted to know any details. I know that all boats from Scilly were ordered for duty under Admiralty.

I could be completely mistaken but I seem to recall Jeff Thompson telling me that when he returned from WW2, after serving in Harry Tate’s Navy, the Nemo was purchased and brought down from somewhere along the South Coast.

I was under the impression that Nemo was bought before WWII by Vernon and Jeff, operated by young Frank. Alf Jenkins reckons that it was then that they were all called up . He also states that some went to Dunkirk, but no one yet has identified which ones. After all it was a blanket order, no choice was involved. They had a lower length requirement though. Interesting question this - one I must follow through.

Something I need to follow through, as it appears on the face of it that nothing is written. I must try and contact Roger Banfield again, I hope they have something on record.

Scillonian boatman Gerald Thompson is retiring and this interesting article is athttp://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/End-82-year-boating-dynasty/story-13807969-detail/story.html
