Hayle sluice gate

The sluice gates used at Copperhouse Pool,
From the “The Cornishman” Thursday, January 24, 2013“TWO large pieces of Hayle's history are set to be destroyed if someone does not offer a new home for them in the next few days. The sluice gates, which were used at Copperhouse Pool, were found 4ft below ground behind the Hayle Harbour OfficeThe old sluice gates that used to be operated alongside the town's swing bridge were uncovered during excavations in July 2011 for the new road at North Quay. The harbour's sluices were officially opened in 1834 and ran effectively until 1971.Mr Simpson added: " A final decision about the future of the gates is only days away."

I’d have thought that a heritage site or tourist park would be interested or if they are not holding up development - leave them where they are. The team who recovered the gates believe that they are constructed of Greenheart wood.
