These are the memories of Jack Pengelly.
Written in 1988 of his memories of Market Jew Street, The Terrace, Albert Street, St John's Court, Gas Lane and Market Place 1922 through to 1939Chapel Street.
68 Roberts, Ironmonger who lived in 'Penmorvah' Alexandra Road. Then became Crysade and has since changed several times.
67 Mr.Rowe, Fruiterer and General Store, there for many years.
66 Coombes, Sweat Shop.
64 Miss Austins, ladies Hairdresser.
We now cross the road.
2 Jarvis, China Shop.
1a Mrs. Marks, Basket Shop which later became Harvey, Greengrocer and General Store 1 Mr. Bowden, then Bailey & Harvey, Butchers.
Then cross the street to Queen Street.
This was Redruth Brewery Stores before the building of the Ritz Cinema and the opening of the Globe Hotel.

Queens Square.

Private house side entrance of shop.
Taylor, Gents Hairdresser » into Parade Street.
Penzance Co-op. Before that it was a Bank.
Opening through double iron gates to Pool's bottling plant, 'Mounts Bay Club' also Aute Tyre, you could have internal seal preventing having to stop, when punctured. (MR. Matthews).
Market Place Cont,
On the corner Opie the chemist, the sign over reading Keens.
16 Clarke's Paper Shop.
17 National Provincial Bank with Offices over.
18 Cannon, Chemist. Became the first 'Boots' in Penzance.
21 Brockways Shoe Shop.
Opening into North Parade.
22 Lipton’s, Grocers. Above the shop Henry Maddem, Architect,
23 Hepworths, Outfitters.
Then two shops stood empty for some time, A.B.C. Bazaar, Halls.
24 later developed for Burtons, Gents Outfitters. 25 Garter, Chemist - corner shop. Sheppard.
27 Gerry, licensed Grocers.
Lennards Shoe Shop.

Good to see that this is continued here. Slightly earlier was "Old Penzance as it was in 1897" Another superb tome (or rather two) is "Penzance Past and Present", by George Bown Millett 1876 and 1880

I think I've got the details correct, but my copy is quite degraded... Must have been at least 10th generation from the original.
