Donate to Picture Penzance
Picture Penzance relies on donations to meet its monthly commitments. Keeping the site running  is expensive and paying for server costs, scripts, licensing, domain renewals is quite a challenge.
None of the staff or employees of Picture Penzance draw a wage, so 100% of your donations will go back in to the site.

Thanks for your support.

» Welcome to pp

Welcome to Picture Penzance your on line community.

Picture Penzance was started on 9th January 2008 by Steffan, Tracey, Jason and Andrew Barnes. Picture Penzance was launched in January 2008 with a total of 124 pictures, no forum or portal and 4 members; now two years on things are very different. If you’re looking for a strong community of local, knowledgeable pleasant people look no further. Picture Penzance has the largest collection of pictures of Penwith with more than 19,500 members photos and a further 2,000 main category pictures spanning through hundreds of years. We have over 1600 members and our newsletter database has more than 2,000 subscribers, a very busy forum with hot topics and a fully fledged portal.
Picture Penzance became a non profit organisation in April 2008 and after trying desperately to get funds from local sources we finally gave that idea up and became self funded.
We raise funds to keep the site running by buying quality branded cosmetics and selling them for profit. All the profit made is then ploughed back into the site to pay for server costs, bandwidth, software and other running costs. We do the hard work so that the site is free to use!
None of the directors draw a wage or claim expenses, and the administrators all volunteer their services for free!
The original idea of Picture Penzance was to document by way of photograph, wherever possible, the town of Penzance Cornwall. Frustrated at the lack of information available to people through the Internet of the town, Picture Penzance was created to fill that gap. Later it was decided to move the boundaries to include Penwith and the Isles of Scilly, hence the caption "incorporating Penwith"
Our extensive library of photographs is available to all members and membership is totally free.
On the fun side of things we have spot the difference games, a Mystery picture section (guess the location of the picture), Bitz “N” Pieces music quiz, a forum full of hot local topic like the controversial plans and arguments surrounding the harbour development
