Benchmark number?

What an oddity. They don t usually have the arrow mark on these as a rule, do they?

I don t think that they do.....this one has a number on it to which I don t normally see on them....any idea where it could be?

Some do, some don t - it all depends if there is a road level that is important to the cable depth; this one does not have a horizontal marker on top of the Ordnance arrow, some do - I have written to the GPO archives and they will be giving more of an idea. This one looks to be fairly old (and from a chip shop).

Just spotted one on New Road wiith an arrow Not an Appache in sight though ::15:

The arrows were left by the Ilarwi tribe, they are very short, and can only be recognised by their chant ... We re the Ilarwi, we re the Ilarwi ...
