The first lifeboat stationed here was the 'Original' - built in 1789 by Henry Greathead, based on a winning design by William Woodhave. Lloyds was so impressed with the design, that placed £2000 to the building of thirty such vessels.
I don't believe it!!...HH and I met Pokerboy for lunch and sat on the seats just next to the abbey slip on Saturday, and we walked passed this....typical, well done R H !!
