Does this improve the skyline over Rosevean Tce? I think not. Has the architect imagined what his brainchild would look like from different situations in Penzance. What is it meant to be for exactly, does anyone know?
It s called the Zennor building. Each building has been appointed a name from local coves in the area. the building itself will be comprised of classrooms, library and dining halls, if my memory serves me correctly. Worked on the landscape detailing for this project a while back, I ll try and dig out any elevations I have of the buildings. Look, this could have been worse. They could have been building these down near the heliport instead! At least Penwith College is determined to stay here and offer further education to the people of Penzance for a long time. They could not have done that with the old buildings. It seems to be a bold scheme but what else could they have done? Had a few low buildings that wouldn t have affected the skyline? Built underground? No one likes change, but no one likes it when nothing new is attempted either! I m just pleased to see something positive be done in Penzance where the only things that added to our town in the last 10 years are the leisure centre and Wharfside. Apart from those Penzance has been stagnating happily. I m sure people won t architecturally like this new buildings because they are not built of granite in the style of 100 years or 200 years ago, but that is just personal opinion. I think they are going to look very 21st century, which is great because that s where we are! ::1:
They don t have to be made of granite to be more in keeping with their surroundings. I ve got no problem with change per se, but I do get irritated when it s done with little or no regard to the area it affects.
