Well now; Ships Nostalgia have the occasional quiz item, and they are really tough, as they all know that it is easy to Google pretty well most things, using the right phrase or set of words. Those questions relate to ships that are long gone or currently afloat; it is all good fun, and a battle of wits against the Googlers and the Knowledgeable Ones; I feel the Beginners should be given the wide acceptance of less specific questions, as well as janners ; I also feel that janners could set pictures of their own current experience, bearing in mind not to make it too specific; it is rather a barrier that janners are not getting the same out of Picture Penzance as the rest of us.
Most people living outside of Penzance and its immediate suburbs are at a considerable disadvantage when it comes to guessing the vast majority of mystery pics. So possibly someone living in Sennen or Zennor is as much in the dark as a person living outside the county.
Absolutely right; I am hoping to get around more and to widen the net, as it were; I wish we had more mystery pictures outside of the Penzance area (whichever boundary system is chosen).
The problem with awarding points depending on the difficulty of the picture has many problems.
Firstly I know members have uploaded images that they considered easy but weeks later no one has a clue of the whereabouts to the picture. This is also true of the difficult ones.... They can go just like that. So awarding more points can be seen as unfair.
Secondly to allow members to choose how many points to award will ultimately end up with situations like guess where this is for 700 points and the game will loose it s appeal
Thirdly... It would mean a great deal of work on the script to achieve this
Perhaps we can open up a discussion in the forum and work out a way to improve what is already in place. I mentioned earlier that I am developing new games that aren t regional and some that are but members living away will not be at a disadvantage playing them......

I really enjoy the mystery pictures and have made a mental note of loads of them for the next time I m down. Like Duffy I half recognise a lot of them but am too slow v the locals ::6:
