mount pleasant problem

help please
Since the move to the new set up by HH, this message has now appeared, any offers, please

Been assembled - very safe feeling now, thanks. Kitchen cupboard now assembled - just needs adjustment to fit under top ...

Your electricity meter & distribution board were installed under the 16th edition wiring regulations which preferred your DB to be close to the ceiling, basically out of harms way but a ball ache for Sparks to work on. Under the current 17th edition regs your DB is down to between 600mm & 1100mm for disabled access which is a good height but there is a lot of problems with children putting things in them that they shouldn't and being subject to knocks and blows that they are not designed to take, so that is what the current regs want but electricians still prefer to put them up a little higher for safety reasons

Thanks, I know only too well of safety matters that you mention .. my book was called Common Sense, so much better if the meter was locked away in a larder; as it is nothing whatever has been gained by its removal. :)

It is amazing what is accepted as normal, and now I realise that to get the flat in order is not something easy as it used to be. Very simple matters using a normal toolkit, becomes quite a challenge, my grip not being what it was, nor the security of knowledge of being steady handed as I was. A little piece of work becomes a challenge.

A few things left before Christmas that I would like to have done, like a flat pack of a cupboard to the bathroom, and to give Thomas a shelf to be able to look out of the window. It is a part of the spare room work (shifting boxes and sorting out), Please can anyone asssist in fitting together rack shelving ? three of them, please? Knock together. I would very much appreciate help in the kitchen please - a worktop to be cut down and fitted please, now the unit has been fitted by HH the room is freed up .. You have no idea how much it takes to ask for help in these circumstances and to admit that for once in my life that I am unable to do things for myself, or anyone else.

Hi Treeve - not sure my diy skills are up to cutting and fitting a worktop, etc having not done it before but if it's something you know how to do and can talk me through it, let me know. Also, if there's any donkey work like shifting/stacking boxes etc to give you more space or anything like that, however small, please do ask. "No job too small" is the phrase I'm looking for. The sort of stuff to get the place in ship shape, make getting around easier, etc. I don't like asking for help either but there have been times when there has been no alternative and I've been surprised by the response. It's a way people can show how much they care, so I guess the moral here is never be afraid or embarrassed to ask. We all need help at some point.

Thankyou ... the top is in the spare room, I had hoped to reduce the length and sit it on cleats over the dryer; you have seen the boxes which have to be inspected and sorted on to shelves; they are not full but just to separate the contents :)

If tt13 has a prob with the worktop let me know, I have saws, drills etc, but not a template for joining, but can do the normal butt joints, fitted loads of kitchens like that.
