There's a row of shops along the Strand opposite which is the lifeboat house and the ice works(?). Is this in one of the shop windows - a chandler's shop I think it is?
I shall wait for 61t's qualification before I award points. I know where I mean, tt13, but I can't be sure of what the trade name is. This is not the window of Waghorns. I think 61t may be right by saying Co-salt. I nearly awarded him the points but wanted to be sure of its name. If it's Co-salt, he gets the points. My fault for not knowing its name. I shall give a full description of its whereabouts then. Come on, tt13, where is Co-salt?
I'll have to look it up! The place I mean is further along than Waghorn's, past that place where they do small boat restoration. I think this is in the first or second shop and then further along before you get to the hill, there's the wet fish shop. I'm afraid I don't know the name of the shop either - so it could well be Co-salt - if that's where Co-salt is.
I am here again, well, Co-salt is the place that sells fishing related gear, used to be The Great Grimsby Salt Coal and Tanning Company, they are to the right of the row starting at the left Trelawny Fish, then what was South West Nets, now fishing industry training etc, then entrance to Stevenson's, then their fish shop, then Cosalt, then their side entrance, chains and bits, then where the lugger was rebuilt, used to be Hill and Enderby.
Have now found Co-salt on a map (Harbour View Terrace, Newlyn, Penzance, Cornwall, TR18 5HAand#8206 and it's not the same place that you have described, tt13! You are certainly right! It is the chandlers on the Strand at the end of the Stevensons Fishmongery, just beyond the place where 'Ripple' was built. Sorry, 61t!
Oh my goodness! 61t's last post and mine have crossed and it's obvious that he was right. tt13, will you forgive me? The Google entry and map was clearly out of date or shows another offshoot. I was on my way to Mousehole and passed this shop with the little doggy!
