Anyone seen this? I've lost a flu, I am hoping for stacks of answers. I am going potty (what's new?). For three jolly little pointipoos, all in the best possible taste, tell me where it is to be found, building complex and place and town and planet.
You need another Clou, seau what shall I say ? Perhaps I should mention the Petre Cellars nearby where could be bought (for those who have lost their soap) ... Life Buoys, Wood and Cork Fenders, Caulking Malletts and Irons ... and all manner of maritime commodities ...
Smart Penzancemaid ... In 1870, after the Wolf Rock Lighthouse was completed, the area was re-built as The Trinity House Depot (one of six (I think) in the country. Use was made of the old buildings and surrounding walls; in the lower corner (where you say) can be seen the remains of a house, and as far as I can tell, the old flue was used. The wall on that side of the gate was at a different height from the new enclosure wall and is heightened and capped. The yard was used by the masons between 1861-1868, as work progressed, the stones were formed, cut and shaped, and each had to be checked and temporarily fitted, before being shipped by barge to the Rock; inside the present yard, the door to this little building is marked fire assembly point perhaps where old flames would meet? Well, it made me laugh. One of the advantages of the Ross Bridge being serviced is the opportunity to have a good look at the Depot (Lighthouse Museum). Three pointipoos for you .... ::15:
You are welcome ... the panel advertising Wares has been carefully left unpainted, what a consideration, for which I am grateful, but some fly poster has pasted a sheet of paper over a section of it; I am waiting for the rain to do its job, I have two pictures of it as it is. I have some pictures to show the area as it was, and a set as now, to go up eventually. I know someone who worked at the depot, so will try and gain some information and/or stories. ::1:
