Where to?
These little square inscibed stones marked boundary limits when the actual building and/or garden space was altered, usually to suit Town orders for roads. There were a lot of disputes over who owned what for the purposes of the rating in the Tithes, so it was defined with these.
Even now there is a misguided belief that once purchased, a house boundary extends to the road kerb edge.
