In it’s heyday at the Jubilee Pool the Penzance Swimming Association presented winners of events with one of these nicely caste bronze medals. There must be hundreds of them still kept around West Penwith.
1950 – 53. I’m told that over the following years its popularity gradually declined, but in the early fifties the space around the pool and overlooking walls would be packed with onlookers on a gala evening.
