On which street or road might this be found?
And purely to satisfy my own curiosity, what does this symbol mean? I've seen a number of them when I've been out and about.
@tabtab13 - these are Ordnance Survey Bench marks, They indicate the point at which a level was taken to be able to give specific levels for a cross country survey. The level cross bar is the point at which the staff is placed, otherwise any level measured at road/pavement level will be different each year. Do a search for bench mark they extend datewise over the years, but are in decline now.
