Where?

Tell me where this is!
This is a really good and powerful picture - I wish I had taken it ... if only I could remember where it is....

I recognised this instantly. DingDong has it and I am glad to see it restored as DDD so kindly informed me it had been.

I thought this was the Tremethick Cross, the one removed from Paul parish [Rose-an-Beagle]. ?

DDD has it, as to it being the Tremethic Cross I wouldn t know, it has only recently been put there, but as you say Treeve a powerful shot especially as your view is looking up towards it.

Blight in 1875 calls this Tremethick Cross, unless there is another one, the one in his book looks remarkably like this - I am not a Grouse (stone cross) man; it would be interesting if someone could come up with an explanation, to clear this up. I am not grousing either, as it is described as having been moved to preserve it, in 1870 or so, set up on a built earth mound. ::15: ::1:

Does he call the cross Tremethick Cross, or the position, as far as position goes this is on the spur off to Tregavarah, Tremethick Cross position, I have always known to be further on where the road goes left for Sancreed and right to Heamoor. I too stand to be corrected and find out someone has been fibbing all these years. laugh# ::1:

Just had a look on the satellite map and it shows that where the cross is situated is on Stringers Hill leading to Tregaverah and Tremethic Cross is the one further up. laugh#

Actually, looking at it again, it says The Cross, Tremethick, Madron; perhaps there is someone out there with the Stone Crosses book - either the original or the new one? I think tpp has a copy of the new one. It is a good while since I walked up there, let alone pass it in a car or bus. I sort of expect there is another cross there which gave the place the name. duh ::15:
