In days gone by (70 s) twigs were a slang word for ariels used bay AM CB users (illegal) so a lot of twigs meant a lot of ariels which meant a meeting of like minded people.
My first was a DV 27 on a car bonnet in the garden. Finished off with a 16 foot silver rod on a 12 foot scaffold pole. I could talk to the world and did quite often. My furthest copy was Venezuela on sideband. Still got the QSL cards somewhere.
I also used to have a DV 27 on the car with a Cobra 147 GTL DX, furthest from the car was America, then went to a base station with a silver rod when I lived in Heamoor, that was until someone climed the tree and nicked it. ::15: ::15:
