It used to have a beautiful little round roof, with a ridge back to the main roof. Half-size slates are necessary to form those, I guess the present owners decided it was too expensive and plonked a nasty flat lead roof on it.
By the way, Buriton is supposed by some to be the original name of Penzance; Bury ton (Castle Town), a castle having been on the area near the Battery, before the Chapel of St Anthony was built, giving us Pen Sans.
